The Atmospheric Dynamics of Intraseasonal Length-of-Day Fluctuations during the Austral Winter
نویسنده
چکیده
The atmospheric dynamical processes associated with intraseasonal length-of-day (LOD) variability during the austral winter are examined with National Centers for Environmental Prediction–National Center for Atmospheric Research reanalysis and outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) data. The method adopted is to regress the relevant fields against the LOD tendency. All quantities in this study are bandpassed through a 30–70-day

Friction Torque Dynamics Associated with Intraseasonal Length-of-Day Variability
This investigation examines the dynamical processes that drive the anomalous friction torque associated with intraseasonal length-of-day fluctuations. Diagnostic analyses with National Centers for Environmental Protection– National Center for Atmospheric Research reanalysis and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration outgoing longwave radiation data are performed. The approach adopted i...
متن کاملTHE 492 GHz ATMOSPHERIC OPACITY AT THE GEOGRAPHIC SOUTH POLE
We present narrow-bandwidth submillimeter-wave sky opacity measurements made from the South Pole between 1995 February 9 and November 17, a period that includes an entire Austral winter. These measurements were made with the Antarctic Submillimeter Telescope and Remote Observatory (AST/RO) using a heterodyne receiver tuned to a band that includes the 492 GHz Ðne-structure line of neutral atomic...
متن کاملResidence Times in a Hypersaline Creek: Using Salinity as a Tracer
Spatial measurements of conductivity, temperature and depth were used to study salinity variations along the principal channels of the tidal hypersaline creek network in the vicinity of Bushehr Port, Persian Gulf during three 25- tidal cycles in both warm and cold months. Salinity variations and tidal fluctuations were out of phase throughout the short inverse estuary. The salinity values in...

Sind sardine Sardinella sindensis (Day, 1878) is the most important ecological and commercial surface resources in Persian Gulf and Oman sea. This study was carried to study some population dynamics parameters of Sind sardine in Coastal waters of Jask Province during January 2011 to December 2012. A totall 2887 specimens were collected from commercial fishing Purse seiners, monthly. Biometric p...
متن کاملMillimeter Wavelength Brightness Fluctuations of the Atmosphere above the South Pole
We report measurements of the millimeter wavelength brightness fluctuations produced by the atmosphere above the South Pole made with the Arcminute Cosmology Bolometer Array Receiver (Acbar). The data span the 2002 Austral winter during which Acbar was mounted on the Viper telescope at the South Pole. We recover the atmospheric signal in the presence of instrument noise by calculating the corre...
